I am sure there are many Bloggers in the Rainbow Region of the far North Coast of NSW in Australia. Globally it is probably known most for the resort town of Byron Bay and the alternative capital Nimbin.

Cape Byron is the most easterly point on the Australian Mainland, being so it is a great place to view migrating whales. It is sub- tropical paradise, attracting visitors from around the world all year round. When I first started going there it had one decent take away food shop near the beach and winters were pretty much the domain of locals only. That was 30 years ago, now, thousands of back packers and tourists flock there at all times of the year.

Easter is a particularly busy time when the East Coast Blues & Roots Fest attracts visitors and locals for what is generally a star studded 5 days of some great music.

Nimbin received global acclaim when it hosted the Aquarius Festival in 1974, attracting thousands of 'hippies' from all over Australia. Many stayed and founded the alternate population that continues to grow in the region. The town of Nimbin still boasts the colourful facards that are a legacy of the peace, love and brown rice era. Bus tours take backpackers on day trips from Byron Bay to savour the homegrown produce the town has to offer.

The Channon Markets have grown from humble beginnings of a home grown/hand made market that was conducted in a corner of the sports ground to a huge monthly market that fills the sports ground on the second sunday of ever month.
