Back Door was my print and artist book shop/studio at Salamanca in Hobart. Salamanca is the artist precinct in Hobart. The name Back Door came from the position of the studio. It was part of the Salamanca Arts Centre but instead of entering through one of the main entrances one entered through the side of the building in Kelly Lane near the stage door to the Peacock Theatre. It was like a back door to SAC (Salamanca Art Centre). I had my studio there from about easter 2002 for about a year. I was selling mostly my own work, etchings, screen prints, digital images, panoramic landscapes of Tasmania, artist books, ceramics with screen printed decal designs and postcards. The salamanca markets are a weekly event attracting thousands of people, this was my main day to be opened. The images are two internal views of the shop. The decor is 'low budget neo funky' and the lighting was minimal but there was a nice vibe inside the shop and people often come to just look at the artwork.
