keepontruckin

Once again the 10/4 travelling artshow moves on! This week I have moved to sunny Queensland, to the border town of
Goondiwindi. The Border Rivers region is another beautiful part of this vast land offering fantastic visual moments along the river red gum banks of the waterways and the huge sky that is unique to the Australian inland experience. I'm looking forward to working and living in yet another wonderful place on my journeyman artist project and working with local artists on their projects. Stay tuned. Check out Euraba Paper to see what the locals are doing. Cotton crops seem to dominate local agriculture........... Gona jump down, turn around, pick a bale a day!

From time to time I like to include a blast from the past blog about my previous projects. This is the link to my new blog about the 1997 installation Press - Covered In Its Own Image.
Go there to find out the full story.

comet cometh

This week started off with sightings of the comet McNaught in the evening sky. I saw it at The Pass on monday night with a group of friends meeting for the monday evening picnic/jam.
Being at The Pass for the event was a bit special for me. An opportunity to blend two of my favourite past-times. Star gazing and being in magic places.

I came back with camera on tuesday evening. It was cloudy, but! there was a gap in the clouds where the comet was so I got these shots.

love song to a constellation

under the southern cross
its all happened to me
everywhere I go
in this wonderful land
I see her there

little bit up.....little bit down

camping out the stars shine bright
romance fills the twinkling light
and your fresh vibe fills my sight
...........................as I fall for you.

life's a struggle
if you like
or filled with magic
day AND night
the stuff of now
is outa sight
and I wonder
do you SEE me?

my photo of the cross we know
was taken at a desert show
there is more to see than meets the eye
at first glance at our enormous sky.

so if you ever think of me
I'm hoping you will know where I be
cause if you call I'll be there
with other stars I long to share.

Going back to the desert 2005. This is "Addoration of Venus".

catching up on some highlights of 2006

After travelling/working "away'for most of the last 10 years I got to come 'home' and be with my people again for a while. Woolumbin is the focal point of all things spiritual in the Northern Rivers and can be seen from many places. A bit like Hokusai's 36 views of Mt Fuji. Mt Warning was named by Cptn Cook because it was an indicator of the eastern extremity of the mainland. Today is Jan 26. Invasion day. A reminder to us all that there was people enjoying this land well before us European's arrived.

I got to have a photo shoot inside the Cape Byron lighthouse....what a beautiful building..with history and maritime wonder!

Tibetan monks came to Bangalow...... made a sand mandala.....

Inspired by the monks I created a series of images based on smoke photos......... more later on this exciting step.

2006 was the year I got to make paper from the Native Rozella plants I planted for that reason 20 years agp. More about that later.

surprise orchid

I call this one the surprise orchid because it comes out like a strand of grass. It seems to grow among the blady grass so you don't know its there till the flower stem comes out. I love it!! This flower grows right near my shack on my Mountain. Its become a symbol of all that is beautiful there at my bush retreat. Good things happen.

Here is another orchid that grows on my Mountain. Its another native and is more conventional in that it grows on logs and trees. Everything is as we make it!

This one is a more common, larger orchid. It grows in tree forks and dead wood.
